AIRLINE NEGOTIATIONS
In the United States, airport sponsors and the major airlines serving airports
typically enter into agreements that establish the basis for setting rentals,
fees, and charges at the airport; document the operating and business relationships
between the parties; and govern the planning and development of new airport facilities.
Negotiations between the parties usually precede the construction of any major
airport project because of its potential effects on airport tenants.
Outside the United States, airline-airport relationships are varied, and generally
shaped by the regulatory scheme and airport ownership model.
Jacobs Consultancy is experienced in assisting airport management in meeting
their financial objectives by formulating strategies for airline lease negotiations,
including analyzing the effects of alternative rate-setting methodologies; providing
technical coordination to obtain approval for capital investments from airlines
or regulators; and assisting in negotiations with airlines and other tenants.
